Poetry: Motherhood by Kay Scott

The glory of
motherhood shines brightly
the eyes
of those who cannot
see what
it's like to live
like this

So bright
it hurts
in more ways than

They speak but
do not hear.
Their voices
rage and
then are quiet
in the palpable calm
that follows

My truth looks
like a lie
to you.
But how can
you know
what you
not know?
